It's amazing what a little time and tutorials will do for a picture.

And our first official post for MOART May!

While I can't promise I'll be good on this for the rest of the month, I figure we could kick off MOART May with some "World Building Wednesdays". According to Tumblr, World Building Wednesdays are for, get this, world building! You can ask me any sort of question about any of the worlds I've tinkered with and I'll answer! If I can....

The one flaw in this plan, however, is that you guys barely know any of my characters, much less the worlds they live in!

So today we're gonna fix that. It means today's update is mostly going to be WALL-OF-TEXT Wednesday, but I'll try to see if I can scrounge up some old sketches for you as well.

Let's get started! [+6] )
~*~

And with that, I'm actually pretty pleased with World Building Wednesday. I've got some new ideas about this story now, which I may re-visit next Wednesday. Hmmm yeah, that could be fun. Focus on getting new character sketches done and filling in some of the (gaping) plot holes around this story and try to polish it up into something... less bad.

How's that sound, hm? It would mean Wall-Of-Text Wednesdays, but hey. I think I might do that. I always enjoy reading about other people's worlds... maybe it's high time I start putting some of my own stuff out there.

See everyone tomorrow for MOART!

MOART May?!

May. 1st, 2013 12:40 pm
hawthorneox: (SquigglyLira)
Alright everyone, time for MOART MAY.

May? Yes, May. This year March was far too hectic for me to even THINK about posting MOART, so instead I picked the other month that started with 'M'. The bonus is that not only is this my birth month, but it's also the month before [livejournal.com profile] artslam. Great excuse to warm-up before jumping into a summer of character and world building, right?

Right.

So once again, we're having a month-long celebration of MOART. For those of you who are new, or maybe just catching this the first time around, here is a brief rundown of what MOART May is and what I plan to do for it this month:

Moart is a word coined by [livejournal.com profile] neogeen and is defined as: more art. Or MOAR ART.

Winter is a very low-art time for me. Holidays mix everything up and while I WANT to do art, circumstances are usually against me during late-fall to early-spring.

In 2011, I decided that instead of trying to do MOART Mondays, I would challenge myself to an entire month of posting art.

Why?

No real discernable reason, other than I wanted to see if I could.

((Seekritly it was because I wanted to try posting for an entire month, as a warm-up for [livejournal.com profile] artslam. I've been wanting to join for years, but I've never had the confidence to work on a single project for an entire month. I figured that I could start by trying to post ANY art for an entire month, then step-up to working on a single project for the summer. I'm still not there yet, but if I keep at this long enough I might be!))

It was very successful (in that I actually managed to follow through with posting for the entire month and didn't just stop posting halfway through), so I tried again in 2012. 2012 was not my best year for MOART. Emotional and external circumstances cut my posting short and while I tried valiantly to make-up lost ground, I did not finish posting for the entire month (or any of the catch-up art that I owed in April).

I had a loose set of guidelines to follow in 2011 as well. I did NOT want them to be hard & fast rules, because that's one of the fastest ways I trip myself up with personal goals. Instead, they were more vague - e.g. - try to do one thing a week, rather than one thing a day. They were still in place for 2012 too, though I upped the ante just a teeny bit as a challenge.

March has already passed, but I refuse to give up. Sometimes you have to learn your limits and make compromises, which is why I'm shooting for continuing this project in May. I heistate to say that the slight change in the rules was what did me in last year, but I am going to keep the changes in mind as I set my personal goals for this year.

So now that you have all that, let's move on to the Guidelines and Goals for MOART May 2013~!

~*~

Personal Guidelines for 2013:

Baselines:
~ Post a minimum of one piece of art every day.
~ One post per week is going to be of "fresh" art (drawn within a day or so of posting).
~ One post per week is going to be a finished piece, which will be uploaded to DevArt/FurAffinity.

I've kept these guidelines since 2011 and I see no reason to change them. Same with the corollaries:

~ I am allowed to use previously uploaded pieces as the "Post every day" art. These are pieces that I've uploaded to Photobucket, but that I haven't gotten around to posting here yet. They're "new", just not freshly-drawn-and-scanned new. (I hope to only use these as filler art for the days where I'm too busy to draw/scan anything).

~ Finished pieces are NOT limited to "just drawings". They may also be school assignments or stuff I've crafted. Finished just means finished - it does not mean a full-blown marker/pencil/ink picture every single time.

Now, because every year is new and different, I am (once again) going to be making some changes to my rules. This time HOPEFULLY not to the detriment of my art postin's.

~ Upload the Finished piece of the week to DA/FA on the update day from the Schedule. (I.e. - Sunday: Personal DA, Tuesday: CDS DA, Thursday: Personal FA) This does NOT mean that the Finished piece will be posted on those days; just that it will be uploaded to the designated site on that day. It may show up as the weekly post on a different day.
~ One post per week is going to be re-doing old art. This can be re-drawing an old picture or expounding on an old idea or concept. It does NOT have to be Finished.

And that's it! I'm removing the whole, "Skip a day, make-up a day" thing because honestly, that is way too much stress for me. I'm already over-worked from my day-job (which I KNOW is going to cause complications this month, but I'm going to try to plan for the "outs" ahead of time), so this year I'm going to be happy if I can just get one post a day up.

~*~

Guidelines for people playing along at home:

~ This is for fun!

~ Pick a goal you want to accomplish. Keep it simple! E.g. - Don't bite off more than you can chew. No, "I'm going to finish a fully-colored and rendered picture every day!" (unless you can, and I salute you if you do)

~ Be realistic about yourself, your personality, work ethic and limits. E.g. - I know I don't have the focus to work on a single idea for an entire month, but I'm prolific enough in my sketching that I can easily post one thing a day.

~ Go easy on yourself the first time. E.g. - In 2011, I didn't set any punishments for myself if I skipped a day of posting. I didn't want that looming over my head as an "Or Else". It only creates more stress and makes you worried about NOT doing art. Don't do it! (unless that's how you motivate yourself, but this is for YOU - see Guideline #3)

~ ANY combination of posting patterns are acceptable!! You don't have to post for the entire month. That's just something that I chose to do. YOU pick your own update days. Wanna do once a week? Great! Want to post for the entire month? Also great! Want to post every other day, except Tuesdays and bank holidays? Go for it!

~*~*~

And there we have it! Another year, a different month and, hopefully, an entire month-long celebration of MOART.

Let's get this party started, shall we?

And there we have it! Another year, a different month and, hopefully, an entire month-long celebration of MOART.

Let's get this party started, shall we?
hawthorneox: (LiraStars)

So all of the side-blogs should be updating throughout the day with a, “Hi, I’m alive. I’ll be back soon, hopefully. My power source is being a pain in the ass.”-message. I’m at Mom’s right now, so I snagged her laptop’s power cord to plug in Gem which is how I’m managing all of this.

I can’t believe I’ve only been gone a week. It feels like SO MUCH LONGER ((hint: this is why I’m not a Time player. I have no concept of it.)). Granted, I’m not looking forward to the coming week because a) work and b) work schedule interfering with me trying to unpack and re-set-up my art area.

But yeah.

I'm alive. The move is over, the wedding is over, I'm over and done with EVERYTHING ELSE. Seriously.

Gonna go get my hurr did today, so that should help make me feel a bit better. Then back to the new place to sleep and wake up for work.

More detailed post coming when I have an area to set my laptop back up in.
hawthorneox: (Default)
I.e. - Shaking a bottle (of soda) as you take it out of the fridge before pouring the drink.

The good news is that I didn't actually follow through the the urge to shake the coke bottle, so my clothes and possessions are safe. It was just a weird feeling to be conscious of.

In other news work took a lot more out of me this week than I estimated it would… I managed to mostly keep on top of my update schedule, but I completely missed EVERYTHING on Thursday. Which means I’m doing both today’s updates AND catching up on Thursday’s missed day…

Just finished updating FA, which means all that’s left to do is:

  • Update CDS Blog
  • Update CDS Store
  • Write up Creature Feature for RainbowFields.
  • Probably need to re-code my post for RF’s Saturday update.
  • Find a music rec for VitaMusica because ahahahahahaha, no playlist this week. Debating on just doing two playlists a month and just find something else to update Thursday with….

Then there’s my regular To Do list:

  • Cross compare health insurances and report findings to Mom tonight
  • …that’s really the only thing that I HAVE to do today. Everything else is just stuff that needs to get done. Like…
  • Fold laundry
  • Put away laundry
  • Wash dishes
  • Eat

…but yeah. So tired. So so tired. This week at work wasn’t BAD, it was just exhausting. Getting back into the swing of working a Day Job, plus I think I’m getting over some bug or something (which didn't help anything), was more tiring than I initially expected...  On the up side, I’m feeling better than I have been the past few mornings, so that’s good.

The cool thing I was talking about last week as that I got myself a Grooveshark account and have been really enjoying their build-a-playlist feature. I figured out how to use the embed-code on my music Tumblr, so I was all excited about being able to share the playlists here (as a throwback to my old Compilations idea).... but turns out LJ eats the coding, and all I get on my screen is just a blank white text-box where the music player should be.  Was v. frustrating and not at all what I was gunning for.

You can still check out my initial test playlist <a href="http://grooveshark.com/playlist/Stage+ON/82493840">[here]</a>, but it may be a few weeks before I can beat my journal coding into proper submission.... Because yeah, I really like sharing music and Grooveshark seems to be rather awesome about actually HAVING MY SHIT (unlike Spotify. SoundCloud is okay, but hit or miss sometimes).

I think that's all for this week... As predicted, I'm looking at how to juggle my update schedule because work being utterly exhausting is making it hard to update certain days. I'm also hearing rumblings that I'm either going to end up on a Sun/Mon/Tues schedule or Wed/Thurs/Fri. Thurs/Fri/Sat was also tossed around, but I'm going to see if I can't nip THAT one in the bud. Weekends are sacred, j0. If I had my druthers, Wed/Thurs/Fri would be the schedule I'd want... it has the potential for the most hours at any rate. Sun/Mon/Tues would probably be the best, update-schedule-wise, but Sunday is only a 4-hour day period. Which, ehng, I'm not exactly "well known" yet....so commissions are rather scarce.

Bluh, money woes. Everything will work out in the end, but right now things are getting seriously thin... Just gotta hope for the best.
hawthorneox: (SquigglyLira)
Sure why not.

Random collection of things I've been working on this past year [+11] )

And there we have it! A little fun to end the week with. I've got something up my sleeve for next week, so I can't wait to post about it. Hee.
hawthorneox: (LiraStars)
Another week gone and I'm still exhausted. Granted, monthly blood loss is not contributing anything useful to that feeling, but this weekend was raucous anyway.

Usually bullet-point run down before moving onto new things:
  • Got my offer letter from FEK. Turns out the reason they weren't calling me was because of some job fair that the district manager wanted EVERYONE to go to, no matter if they were in the middle of the hiring process or not. Which meant an extra week of pins and needles for me
  • I start Feb. 4th at a higher pay rate than I had back in HSV. Which should hopefully balance out in the end, but I won't be getting a paycheck until mid-month, so I won't know until almost March.
  • Anyway... Friday [livejournal.com profile] sabrinageek was down for an LGBTQ convention, so I went over Friday evening to hang out with her and holy fuck, being in such a trans* positive space felt SO. GOOD. I know I don't talk here a whole lot anymore and talk even less about my personal issues and gender problems, but god. Being in such a positive space was an amazing change from the past eight months.
  • The good conversation helped too. Found some new friends and got to vent a lot about stuff that not a whole lot of other people can understand.
  • Saturday and Sunday were reserved for a Homestuck lock-in the local Atlantastucks organized. It was the third iteration of this lock-in meet and it was just as much of a blast as the first two.
  • The downside... well, maybe not downside... but the after-effects was that I spent most of Sunday and yesterday being a complete zombie. Good times, but ugh so tired.

Still flagging a bit today, but I know most of that is nerves and stress about what's coming down the pipes for February. Trying to announce I am moving without rocking an already unstable boat is NOT any fun at all, plus I'm helping dora get prepped for his wedding and just. Ugh. Stress. ALL of the stress.

I'm almost laughing at how ready I am to go back to work. It means being away from everything for eight hours a day and focusing on something else. The money helps, to be sure, but yeah. I know what kind of distractions to expect at work.

Bluh, yeah. I'm still pretty exhausted from everything and I can't wait to be out of this shitty situation I'm in. Maybe I can try to update later this week with some of the art I've been doing... Still need to recode this place too. Hrf, still lots of work to go around.
hawthorneox: (Default)
Job hunting is a giant numbers game. I've been pretty solidly applying for jobs since... well, okay, the 2nd, and have averaged about 3 a day (minus weekends). The job offer I was getting from Fedex has mysteriously vanished after my second interview (which was supposed to be the final one??), which is only mildly disappointing.

Everything else is going pretty swimmingly though. I'm testing the waters of an update schedule for All The Things and, okay, so it's only been two days, but I'm feeling pretty confident about it. DA/FA will be getting updated, along with all the blogs, and every Wednesday I have the chance to scan whatever art I've been doing over the course of the week. Sorta forgot to slate LJ into all of this mess, but I'm going to be watching my busy spots over the week and just update LJ when I have the downtime to do so.  I'm gonna work on re-tooling this place as well, so that might hamper overall updates a bit.

Watch me have a week of this and then get a job offer that makes me re-do THE ENTIRE THING. That'd be my luck wouldn't it?

But yeah. Taking baby-steps into 2013 is producing different results than I'm used to, but it's really interesting to watch things happen.

Hrf, lots of busy work going on… Trying to keep myself busy so I don’t go stir crazy from residual emotions and waiting to hear back from all the jobs I’ve applied for. Here’s an update for what’s coming down the pipes, insofar as my online presence is concerned:
  • Getting an update schedule for all my secondary blogs. This includes CDS, TA, VitaMusica, and Rainbow Fields. Yes, I am going to try and corral my posting to a weekly update schedule for these guys. I’ll let you know how that works out in like, a month.
  • Recoding LJ into something more modern. I mean, I’ve had the same layout for probably the past seven years. If I am to insist on continuing to use it, it needs updating. DW might also get an overhaul.
  • Recoding all secondary Tumblrs. Which means moving my main theme over to TA, recoding THAT theme and then picking layouts for all my other ones. *sigh* Work.
  • Figuring out update schedule for DA. I have a bunch of art that can get uploaded, but I need to figure out when would be good to do update days…. That way I avoid avalanching all four people who still watch me.
  • …mostly just working on projects and throwing schedules around until they stick.

…so yeah. I’m busy, but not. Trying to keep my head above water, but with my money reaching its tail end, it’s really nerve wracking to want to do a bunch of stuff.

Here’s hoping something comes through though.
hawthorneox: (RukaSayAnythin)
Well, once a week updates are better than nothing right? Right. So let's see what all has happened since we last left off...:

~ Got broken up with on Monday. Still stings.
~ Got an impromptu interview on Tuesday when I went out job hunting.
~ Got a phonecall for an interview on Wednesday.
~ Got interviewed Thursday.
~ Left for Huntsville ass-early Friday.
~ Spent Friday with Mom and Luke and friends. Did Christmas with Mom, got lots of knitted things. And 100$ worth of BN stuff.
~ INCLUDING GLASS DIP INKING PENS. OMG I CANNOT WAIT TO PLAY WITH THESE SERIOUSLY.
~ Got a haircut on Saturday and hung out with Michael & Esther.
~ Played LOTS of Pokémon.
~ Came home Sunday to learn the Things Remembered I was hired at (and subsequently was on-call for) is closing permanently.
~ Which means I guess it's a good thing I had a final interview today.

And THAT means I'm going back to work for Fedex. This time around, however, I'm hoping things will be different. For starters, I'm going into the job at part-time. None of this full-time business and ESPECIALLY none of this 3rd shift nonsense. I'll have the opportunity to boost my hours by volunteering for shifts outside of my center, but that will be MY call. Not theirs.

Which is gonna be rather nice, honestly.

I'm sortof nervous about going back, but I'm trying to remind myself that this ISN'T my old center. Things have a greater potential to be NOT AS HELLISH, so I'm trying to go back with an open mind. Can't say where I'll be yet, because I don't know if I'm actually hired back or not... but it's looking that way.

In other news... well. I can't go into family stuff yet because argh, it's too convoluted and would take hours just to type up. Health-wise I seem to have missed whatever super-flu virus that seems to be taking down everyone. This year started off with a pretty explosive bang (or ended with a bang, depending on which mythos you follow), but I seem to be doing fairly okay?

I've been investing a lot of time getting Crystal Dreams set up and while I've been bad about not starting to blog again, the store is almost ready to open (and when I do, Dyre, I'll write up an in-depth report of who I went with and why for you and anyone else who still reads this thing). I really want to pick a project to start working on too... Just to start generating more artwork. I guess a good goal for this year would be to actually FINISH ART, rather than sketch everything and just leaving it for dead.
And also learning not to expect to finish a digital picture all in one sitting. THAT one is gonna be difficult, because I have a lot of preconceived notions that need to get broken. Also I am horrible at speed paints and I should probably start doing more of those...

But yes.

Also just realized I can cannibalize some of my old Pokémon posts for my Pokémon Tumblr, so wheeyay, I can start queueing up posts over there. Music blog is stagnant until I can make (or find) a new BG for it, plus figure out what online source would be best to post music clips from. Since, you know, posting from my personal collection might be a bad idea........

So there we go. Monday updates. Ugh, I suppose I should eat something (because I ate...geez, seven hours ago now), but I have been having such stomach problems lately. Stress is not helping matters much on that front, sad to say. Maybe just a PB&J or something simple. Need to sit down and figure out what I'm doing tomorrow too....

Anyway, there's your news in briefs and I will hopefully either be better about updating later this week, or we'll do another weekly catch-up next week. Hope y'all are hanging on and I AM reading my Friends List. So hugs to those who need it and cheers to everyone who's doing strangely fine.
hawthorneox: (RedTeam)
Man there's a whole lot of prep involved with getting an online store set-up. I mean, I knew that, but still... 81 pictures to go through and clean up of various merch items. And that isn't even half of what I HAVE.

Getting pretty excited though. Found a site that's doing a sale on photo-prints right now, so if I can finish up some things, I can offer mini-prints too... Hey, maybe even as freebies or something as a Thank You.

Ah my To Do list is growing and I am stupid excited to start keeping up with it.

I'm also itching to get back into Pokémon again too... Been reading too many Nulockes again and now I wanna do another one. Emerald was a MASS-...well, not MASSIVE FAILURE, but geez. Nuzlockes are HARD if you aren't crazy-good at level-grinding. I don't know if I wanna do another Hoenn Nuzlocke or not. I wanna try out a Unova one, but I love my Black and Black2 teams too much to do anything with them... Same with Platinum and Diamond. I mean, the obvious answer is to just PLAY THE GAME and worry about rules later, but yeah. Augh stories and Pokémon and comics and yeah.

I'm just on an upswing from a bunch of bullshit that's going on in my Life right now. Can't really discuss it on a public forum, but I SHOULD be back in Huntsville on the 10th (this Thursday) for at least a day or two, so if you wanna meet-up or somethin' that could happen.

Aaaaaanyway, enough procrastinating. These pictures aren't gonna crop themselves and I'd LIKE to get my store online by...well. SOON.

Geeehh, so much to do.
hawthorneox: (LiraStars)
That I REALLY want to do tomorrow eventually. In no particular order.

~ Draw/make new icons for personal Tumblrs, HS tumblr, Skype, poss. DAs & any other site that needs a generic icon
~ Make light box so I can start photographing leftover con merch
~ Apply at more jobs
~ Put away laundry
~ Change pillowcases
~ Eat
~ Ponder new Life schedule more
~ Research protection crystals and sigils
~ Start outlining CDS projects for 2013
~ Do Netherwing dailies

....and yeah okay, that sorta go away from me, but I'm trying.

"And I want to live, not just survive."

I spent the bulk of this year flailing around and not really getting anywhere. It's time to rally up and get my head back in the game. Keeping this list close so I can start doing it.

One step at a time.

"To the sky, flyin' high,

Take me to the moon~"

So in my infinite wisdom, I b0rked my own iTunes Library and rather then trying to figure out how the fuck to put everything back rightways, I just downloaded iTunes 11.0 and decided to work with the new layout.

And sitting here, listening to The Cab and trying to decide how much I feel like fucking with the new Playlist system, I realized that this is a perfect metaphor for how I'm approaching 2013.

2012 was full of half-formed decisions and very hard lessons about how most plans almost never survive first contact with the enemy. I'm nowhere near able to go back and correct the decisions that have lead me to where I am now (e.g. - moving into my parent's house and not to a place of my own), but I can rally back from this to go forward. It's gonna be hard because, haha, I'm on a bit of a tight budget and even tighter time-frame, but the past week has helped give me things to believe in and hold close to my heart. Which, doesn't sound like much, but the energy I get from when I know people believe in me... well, my new friends are about to get a front-row seat to seeing what I can do with a little faith and a lot of hope.

There are still familiar things in play and I know myself better than to think that I'll be able to change everything around in a few weeks, but I have a better idea of what the stakes are this time around and that makes ALL the difference.

Which is why I'm not exactly HAPPY with the new iTunes layout, but I'm dealing with it. All of my music is there and playlists can be rebuilt (as proof of having to recreate some of these damn things FIVE OR SIX TIMES NOW). I still have all of my stuff here, so I can start reaching out and reorganizing it over here in Atlanta. There's gonna be some annoyance, because ugh, iTunes is not exactly intuitive to navigate anymore, but maybe I can scratch up some new playlists out of the new music I've been enjoying recently.

So yeah. Music is still a large part of my Life and is going to be intrinsic to my survival over the next few months.

....and I think I just figured out my new music blog's name. Time to go see if I can snag it.

Happy New Year, everyone.

The usual post about, "New Years resolutions" is coming, but for right now I'm going to get a jump on one of them I know I'll be making... which is, surprise surprise, is to go back to using this place for a journal.

This past year has been WILD, for a multitude of reasons. I somehow got in the line for the super-extra-ultra deluxe version of the emocoasters I've been riding. Granted, as usual I am thankful for all of the experiences that I've had happened to me over the year, but hoo boy. Here's hoping the 2013 ride won't contain nearly as many loop-de-loops and sudden drop-offs.

As of this exact point in time, I am feeling very calm about what's happening around me and while it's probably false-hope (because hahahahahah, wait until we start covering what's been happening. HOO boy.), I feel as confident as I can at this point about what's coming up.

I'm going to be spending tonight with some co-workers of mine. I got invited to their party tonight and the theme is the Seven Deadly Sins. It sounds fun and while I don't think I can pull off anything very well, it'll still be fun to be around people I only vaguely know. New opportunities for new friends and all that.

Tomorrow is going to be the long post day, where I outline what I hope to accomplish in 2013, but right now know that I am going to be trying to get this place back to being active.

Hey guys, GUESS WHAT.

There's a new site out there that's reposting artwork without permission! I know, I know, “Oh that won’t happen to ME.” Yeah well, guess who has two thumbs and no only found THEIR art on the site, but also art that I posted on Tumblr? Bingo.

So go check your Tumblr, DevArt AND LJ name. Art has been coming up under all three.

The site in question is here :: http://www.dramakoreaterbaru.com/

The DeviantArt announcement about this is here :: http://darlingmionette.deviantart.com/journal/Art-Theft-UPDATE-343890145?

DA also has a nice pre-written cease & desist letter written, just in case you need one (I did because hell, this is my first time dealing with a site doing this)))

So go have fun because I just found MORE art that I forgot to check for and now they get TWO letters from me. Woo-fucking-hoo.

Life Is

I make my bed every day now. It's a bit of a necessity, because my bed is my only spot to have my laptop nowadays and I don't enjoy sitting in rumpled blankets. The artspace is still available but since the loss of my good noise-cancelling headphones, I am loathe to really be out there to work for an extended period of time. Small children make a distressingly large amount of noise.

As with all my long paused updates, Life has been a tumultuous mess since we last left our intrepid hero... BUT all of my tumbling around has produced some polished stones this time, instead of the worn down rocks I usually get in return.

In no particular order:

~ Job GET. I'm, once again, re-employed with Things Remembered and it's looking like things are gonna be pretty awesome this time around too. My manager/asst. managers are really cool people, and the coworkers I've met have been pretty chill too.

~ Sites UP. Crystal Dreams Studios can now be found on THREE different spots on the Internet. [Tumblr], [Twitter], and [DeviantArt]. I'm still working to get CONTENT up on these sites, but I'm up and running as far as my Studio is concerned.

~ Art is happening. AWA was a GIANT BUST, but earlier this month I went to Nekocon in Virginia (the part that wasn't underwater from Sandy) and it was a really good con. Had some disappointments sale-wise (I thought buttons were the cool thing this year, /sigh), but got some really nifty ideas to start working on too. Art post DEFINITELY coming soon.

~ Legalization happened! Myself and Desireé my car) are now legal in the state of Georgia! Only a few dozen paychecks to go and I'll be eligible for in-state tuition! And it only took two whole hours to get through the DMV. I like to think that was NOT a bad thing.

Aaaaand there are some pretty cool things going on in my personal life too, but I'm sorta hesitant to call any of it officially yet. Waiting for more solid footing, if you will.

So yeah, all in all, things aren't the BEST right now (because hahahahahahahaha, my step-mother is a few fries short of an entire fast food chain), but they're getting better. Halloween has come and gone (one of these years I'll get around to doing a proper art-piece for it) and Thanksgiving is a little over a week away. This past year has been WILD, no doubts about it... but from the way the chips are falling already, I think next year is gonna be... well, a bit QUIETER. No less emotionally upsetting, but hopefully the biggest explosions have already happened.

And ah, maybe once I can do some house cleaning on my computer, I can post a bit of art here too, :3c

For those of you still keeping up with this, I miss ALL of you. Yes, even you. I can't promise I'll be better about getting a hold of people, but I'm trying to be on AIM and Skype more, so feel free to ping me there. Email is available as well.

I hope everyone is doing well, and hopefully I won't take so long between updates next time, ^^;;

I don't know what it's been, but the only hiccups in my days lately have really... been just today.

My bank's website decided to start having ISSUES with my browser, which prompted a quick snitfit over clearing my cache/cookies out and still not getting through. Rebooting did whatever the other stuff didn't and I was able to access my account.

Which was important, because the only thing I had on my To Do List today was pay my cell bill.

Speaking of which, take a look at how awesome things have been going:

The rest of this is all good. )

And that 'MOART' bit? Well, dora finally got his new tablet in and I rode up to have lunch with him today AND NOW I HAVE A FUNCTIONING TABLET AGAIN.

8D 8D 8D 8D 8D

Hope y'all like gift art, because hahahahahahaha, now I can do art for people and not have to wait for a scanner!

So yes.

Again, I really don't know what has been different about this week than all the other weeks previous, but things have been... not effortless, because today certainly made me fussy as hell, but easier.

I'm just really hoping this trend continues. Bit of finger crossing and I might even have a steady income soon. Kinda excited all the way around right now~

Ahhh, another two weeks, lots more Learning Experiences to add under my belt.

I tentatively want to report that my mood has actually stabilized at this point. There have been lots of Good Things happening to support this. And equally as many Bad Things that have tried to tear that back down, but I thiiiiiiiiink the Goods outweight the Bads this time.

Let's review, shall we?

+ New iPod came in to replace my missing one. Same color, same size, and lucky I still had my old plastic case to protect it. He's named Samsam II, because I'm uncreative and am still holding onto the hope that Samsam is still out there somewhere.

- My GOOD set of headphones broke. Apparently this is a manufacturing defect in the product and between one to six months, they just stop working for no reason. I had my set for five months before this happened, so it's still within the window of "Bad Product". I don't have the money to replace them right now, which leaves me with the shitty iPod headphones.

- To which I have lost my set that have my clicky button on them, so the only pair of headphones I have right now are an old (but thankfully not falling apart) set of regular Apple headphones.

Being an audiophile is hard and no one understands.

+ BUT! Hopefully soon I will have a new job! I've been in discourse with a Things Remembered (admittedly on the other side of town, but it's RIGHT ON a MARTA line which means I can walk to our station and go to work on the rails) that seems to be pretty interested in hiring me. I have to call the manager this week to tell her my application was submitted, but it's looking good for a prospective hire.

+ My moirail is getting a new tablet this week and I am inheriting his old one. This is super awesome on a number of levels; namely the ones where I can start doing headers, icons, and all manner of digital art again.

+ Which means awesome news for Crystal Dreams Studios. I was going over some business ideas with Eien last week and I think I have a handle on where I want to start directing my business endeavors after I get done with Nekocon next month. I'm pretty excited about them because it means I can actually start doing this whole art-for-money thing.

Focusing my efforts into my business is getting me pretty excited. There's still a mess of pre-work to do, which I'm gonna break down into a To Do list here in a bit (so I can figure out what I'm supposed to be working on this week), but it's looking a hell of a lot like a reality. Skee!

.....there's also a fuckton of research still left to do, which I am only mildly dreading, but one step at a time yeah?

In other news, I've gotten the new Pokémon game (Black 2), but I haven't gotten very far in playing it yet. I'm hoping to set down with it here in a bit to get a bit farther than getting my Starter. Will probably be a separate entry in and of itself, so yeah.

Life's just been really rocky here lately. I have good... hours. And lots of bad days in a row... but this past weekend got a lot of that out of my system? I'm hoping so anyway. The cold weather has been amazing for improving my moods, however. Hoodie season is the best season and no one can tell me otherwise.

Anyway, let's get that To Do list together so I can figure out how the rest of my week is panning out.

To Do; Week of Oct. 15th - 19th )

Things are obviously subject to change, but overall I think I like this set-up. There are probably things I've forgotten to add in here too, so those'll get edited in later. Might see if I can try to get an update schedule back in place for LJ too... Dunno how many people keep up with this anymore, but I like seeing stuff on my FList, so I figure some of you guys do too.

Ohhhh, a music post could happen too. I've been getting into a lot of great songs lately.

There, marked on The List.

.....and as it's getting to be almost 1pm, I think it's time to start on today's section. Food first, then everything else. Time to get to work~!
