Technology hates me, redux
Apr. 22nd, 2006 01:32 amEien came over this evening. I figured hey, what a better time to get the Gateway components out of it and into the Trueno. I even have enough cash to invest in a portable hardrive/flash drive/jump drive/whateverthefuckinghellthey'recalledbecauseIapparentlydon'tknowtherightword to aid in the moving of data. Before I begin, a handy guide:
Trueno = POS eMachine Eien first gave me to tinker with
AE86 = my mom's old Gateway she gave me to tinker with
Yuki = my Macintosh
So I have Eien give the AE86 a cursutory first-glance, just to see what we were working with. Apparently it's better than the Trueno, so after a few minor upgrades, I'll be using that as my base machine. Still have to transfer data/hardware/etc., but the motherboard, cooling system, and damn near everything except the processor are good to go. Monitor is also better, but only because it stays one color. No comments.
Anyhoo, as stated earlier, I invested in a 1 GB flash/jump/whateverthehell drive tonight.... and while right now I'm regretting the hell out of it because NEITHER PC is cooperating in taking the drivers for it to work, I'm praying that I can atleast get Yuki to cooperate and be agreeable to having my portable drive work with her. Also got 50 CDRs, none of which are mp3-based, so if I wind up having a useless piece of junk on my hands, I can atleast move data the old fashioned way. I also bought a CD burner off of Eien tonight for $20, but we couldn't get the AE86's faceplate off to install it.
*sighs*
Friday was just as bad as the rest of this week overall, and right now all I want to do is...well.... first off I'd really like both of my PCs to work so I could WATCH SOME FUCKING ANIME, but I'd also really like it if one technological thing in my life worked like it was supposed to. People wonder why I use a Macintosh.
I use a Macintosh because if it doesn't work right the first time, I atleast have an idea of what to poke to make it fixed. I like taking apart PCs, but I'll never be able to work them properly.
I'm also insanely sleep deprived at the moment, and terribly aggravated with myself and Murphy. I also hate my body at the moment, but only because I'm developing my itching sores again. This time on my ankles and wrists. Yay for looking contagious! 9_9
Everyone is just going to have to excuse my snipiness with them this week and next: My tolerance level is nearing 0 again. The fucking piles of guilt I'm indirectly getting saddled with aren't appreciated either.
I hate responsibility, I hate commitments, and I especially hate the rain. It makes the hems of my pants wet and my feet cold. NO LOVE.
.... going to sleep now. Not expecting tomorrow to improve my mood any. You have been warned.
