MOART March - Story Tiemz
Mar. 16th, 2011 11:57 pmNearly forgot about this today. I'm also down to the dregs of my art buffer (i.e. - I have maybe five or six pictures left that you haven't seen yet), so until I can scan more stuff in, today's post is going to be the first chunk of the fic I'm attempting to write for my Pokémon Black game.
The poll I posted earlier about posting writing for MOART March was nearly split 50/50, but in the end I'm making the executive decision to count writing as art. Cop-out? Perhaps. Do I have anything else to post? Well, unless you care for a long-ass emo post, then no, not really.
( This doesn't even get me to the first town, so no spoiler alert )
This fic is part of the reason I'm going so slowly through Black. I'm being stubborn and trying to put as much dialogue from the game as I can into it, so this requires me to be near my computer/a notebook whenever I'm playing so I can quickly jot down the gist of the character's lines. Nevermind having to translate the lines into storyform. I have notes up through Striation City and cleaning up Team Plasma from Wellspring Cave, but I'm starting to understand why I keep dropping these fic projects.
I'm half tempted, once I can consolidate my notes, is to switch from "real time" story-telling to a journal-entry writing style. That way I can play my game, log it, then break up the notes into separate journal entries from my Trainer's POV. The only thing that bugs me about this is that sometimes I want dialogue to happen (like how much I want to thump Team Plasma upside the head right now), and you can't really do that in a journal-style fic. I could do flashbacks, but I dunno how well that'd flow...
Bleah. I love translating what happens in game to story-form, but it's taking me a hellishly long time to get anything done. I don't even have that many notes on how my team has gotten assembled so far; just that I caught something, what I named it, and then I moved on to the next Route or whatever.
Hng, I'm sure I'll think of something though. Either that or I'll just give up and blaze through my game like I always do.
